We warmly invite you to join us for a celebration and fundraising event for Carol Shipley's 90th birthday (flyer below and attached). With an afternoon tea and film screening of Coronation Girls, followed by an interview with Carol herself, this will be a fantastic opportunity to have conversation, enjoy each other's company, watch this wonderful documentary film, and celebrate together!
What's Happening?
- 2:30 - 4:00 PM: Afternoon tea, cake, and socializing in the Church Hall
- 4:00 - 6:00 PM: Film screening of Coronation Girls, followed by an interview and Q & A with Carol in the Church Sanctuary
You are most welcome for tea, for the film screening, or for both, especially if you haven't had a chance to see it yet!
What About Gifts?
Carol would dearly appreciate your support of places that are near and dear to her heart! Based on her love for her faith community, her passion for addressing climate change, and the crucial role housing plays in promoting dignity and well-being, Carol would welcome donations to:
- First United Church: Our inclusive and welcoming faith community, one in which Carol has been a part for many, many years! By cheque or e transfer to treasurer@firstunitedchurchottawa.org
- David Suzuki Foundation: Working to protect nature and promote sustainability through science, education, and policy advocacy (in memory of Yvonne Harris, exemplary climate activist and Carol’s dear Weston Girl Friend) (click here for ways to give)
- Options Housing: Focused on ending homelessness in Ottawa one person at a time by providing homes with wrap-around support (click here for ways to give)
If you're looking for a fun way to figure out an amount, Carol suggests considering a donation according to your age!
